Welcome
The geotechnical and geoenvironmental programs in the School of Civil Engineering and Environmental Science have two primary objectives:

• Provide quality education
• Develop and maintain strong research programs of regional   and national significance in the areas of geotechnical

engineering, geoenvironmental engineering and
  geomechanics.

This program is designed to provide students with a fundamental understanding of:

• The behavior of geologic media
• Structures constructed on or using these geologic media
• Contributions of geologic media to environmental problems
  and solutions.

Students may earn a master's or doctoral degree in civil engineering with an emphasis in geotechnical engineering or geoenvironmental engineering. The program emphasizes both analytical/numerical and experimental methods that aid in the advancement of modeling, analysis and design.

GOOD NEWS!!!!
Dr. Amy Cerato was awarded the 2008 NSF CAREER Award for her work on "The Role of Specific Surface Area and Cation Exchange Capacity in Understanding and Predicting Expansive Soil Behavior" and is now a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of Oklahoma.
Mr. Rory Victor, a M.S. candidate working on dynamically loaded helical anchors for wind towers, was awarded the 2007 ADSC Graduate Scholarship.
Ms. Amanda Adams, a M.S. candidate working on sulfate induced heave in lime-stabilized soils, was awarded the 2008 Council of University Transportation Center's (CUTC) Student of the Year Award.
The OU Geotech Group recently formed a Student Chapter of the GeoInstitute!
We've been busy and very successful!  Come join our team!
